Searching the RECAP Archive

The RECAP Archive provides access to millions of pdf court documents. However, the search interface does not search through the full text of these documents, but rather searches through the text of case-level dockets. These docket files contain short descriptions of each document in the case as well as some case-level metadata. We hope to include the full-text of documents in the future, though there are some signicant technical hurdles to overcome before we are able to reach that goal.

The following tips may help you when using the search interface:
You can use the '*' character as a wildcard
Searching for "Bob*" will find results for "Bob" as well as "Bobby"
The "-" character will prevent terms from appearing
Searching for "Bob -Smith" will show results that contain "Bob" but not "Smith"
